The Saugatuck Financial team made Christmas wishes come true by partnering with the Westport Fire Department and the Westport Department of Human Services (DHS). The team shopped for and helped deliver gifts to families services by our local DHS.

Saugatuck Financial was a proud finish line sponsor for the second annual Light for Kara 5K Run/ 1 Mile Walk. Held on a beautiful August morning at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, CT, the event supports several local organizations committed to maternal mental health in memory of local teacher and mother of 2, Kara Kovlakas. Hundreds gathered to celebrate a life gone too soon and to bringing awareness, support and hope to those affected by postpartum depression.

Saugatuck Financial Advisors Al Schor and Justin Charise were recognized in Milwaukee in July with Al among the Top 6 advisors in the country specializing in Insurance and Risk Strategies, and Justin as Top 7 nationally for Comprehensive Financial Planning and Wealth Management. The meeting closed with a Jimmy Buffet concert and several of the speakers reminded us and brought to life WHY we work so hard doing what we do. The trust placed with our teams to help clients plan for all that can be expected and everything that can't is never taken for granted. Another annual meeting leaves us proud of the work we do and grateful for our fantastic colleagues, team members and clients who keep this journey challenging, fun and fulfilling.

For the 4th consecutive year, the Saugatuck Financial family worked with the Westport Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Westport Uniformed Firefighter's Charitable Foundation to bring Westport Fire Department’s famous Santa Run to local families served by DHS. Saugatuck Financial elves shopped for the children and the Westport FD delivered Santa, in style, to the Westport Senior Center for a holiday celebration with local families. This annual holiday tradition has become one of our most cherished! Hoping everyone had a wonderful holiday season and sending best wishes for a joyful 2019!

Saugatuck Financial is proud to have partnered with Mitchell’s of Westport and Peter Millar in an evening benefiting Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. Guests enjoyed southern snacks, lemonade, a golf simulator and helped raise money end childhood cancer. Shortly before her first birthday, CT native Alexandra (“Alex”) Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. When she was just four-years-old, Alex held her first childhood cancer fundraiser in her front yard and raised over $2,000. By the time of her death in 2004, Alex had raised $1 million and inspired a legacy of hope and cures for childhood cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation continues in her honor with cutting edge research towards a cure, and family and patient support and treatment services. We are honored to have had a small part in supporting the continued work of ALS under the legacy of Alex Scott.

The Westport Human Services Department, Westport Firefighters and Saugatuck Financial teamed up for the third year in a row to provide early Christmas gifts and a visit with Santa for local families and their young children. Santa arrived by fire engine to surprise the children. The evening truly was magical and our team was grateful to be a part of it again!

Saugatuck Financial clients, friends and guests enjoyed another day of tailgating and fun at Maple Row. Highlights included morning bagels, hot cocoa, hot apple cider and an amazing made-to-order lunch by Super Duper Weenie. Aside from hay rides around the farm, visiting the oxen and cutting a fresh tree, a fire pit and holiday arts and crafts kept both kids and adults busy. Sharing a day of merriment with our client families has become a treasured way to kick off the holiday season! In March 2016, Justin and Al hosted 30 Northwestern Mutual Financial Representatives from across the East Coast in Stamford, CT. Together, they led two days of presentation and discussion on their approach to comprehensive financial planning, including strategies, industry standards and best practices.
